In a busy coffee shop this morning in Johor Bahru, we shared a table with two men, an indian and a chinese who looked to be in their sixties, judging by the grey hair on their heads and the 'colonial english' they spoke to each. They were discussing what to have. In the end, the chinese gentleman decided on Assam Laksa from Penang, while the indian gentleman ordered a plate of Wonton Mee. In my head, I thought, this is something Malaysia shares with Singapore, an intermingling of the races. Then when we couldn't finish our food, I offered them to the two gentlemen, and a conversation began which revealed that they were also from Singapore! As we were leaving the coffee shop, I took a quick glance around the busy coffee shop and realised our table was the only one with a mixed racial composition. Perhaps, our Singapore is unique, and wonderfully so.

every moment, every turning point, every romantic encounter in life, has been marked with a distinct song. our frailties, dreamy encounters and setbacks are always reflected with a soundtrack- a tune which brings us back, a button that allows us to freeze time and playback all those precious moments, good or bad.
